Terms of Service

Last updated February 8, 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern every interaction with the Echo Discord bot, an AI-augmented companion that can converse with community members and surface console features. By inviting, configuring, or using Echo you agree to the Terms below and to Discord's platform policies. If you disagree with any section, remove the bot and discontinue all use immediately.

1. Eligibility & Access

2. Acceptable Use

You agree to use Echo responsibly. The following behavior is prohibited:

Platform Rules

  • Violating Discord's Terms of Service, Community Guidelines, or developer policies.
  • Automating spam, phishing, malicious links, or deceptive practices.
  • Attempting to probe, disrupt, or reverse engineer the bot or related infrastructure.

Content Rules

  • Generating or sharing hateful, harassing, sexual, or violent prompts.
  • Submitting confidential or personal data you do not have permission to share.
  • Using the AI output for decisions where professional oversight is required (medical, legal, financial, or safety-critical contexts).

3. AI Conversations & Limitations

Autonomous Interventions: Echo is an AI system capable of autonomous verbal intervention. While designed to de-escalate, it may misinterpret social cues. You acknowledge that Echo is a tool, not a human moderator, and you remain responsible for your community's safety.

Echo uses third-party AI models to generate conversational responses. Outputs may be incomplete, outdated, or incorrect. Always verify information independently before acting on it.

Do not rely on the bot for emergency services or life-or-death situations. The maintainers may review conversation snippets or telemetry to debug abuse reports, improve quality, or ensure platform safety. Review logs are limited to the minimum necessary scope.

By continuing to chat with Echo you grant the maintainers permission to process the content of your messages for moderation, analytics, and feature development consistent with these Terms.

4. Privacy & Data

5. Service Changes & Availability

Echo is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. Features may change, pause, or end without notice. The maintainers may deploy updates, patches, or new policies at any time. Continued use after updates constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. Maintenance windows or outages may occur, and you acknowledge that data loss or message delays can happen.

6. Liability, Warranty & Indemnity

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the maintainers disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and uninterrupted availability.

Echo, its contributors, and hosting providers are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages, nor for lost profits, data, or goodwill that result from using or being unable to use the bot.

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the maintainers against claims or expenses arising from your misuse of the bot, violation of these Terms, or infringement of third-party rights.

7. Enforcement & Contact

Violations may result in warnings, temporary feature suspensions, permanent bans, or reports to Discord's Trust & Safety team. Enforcement decisions are final.

If you discover a security concern or need clarification on these Terms, reach out through the designated support ticket channel in the Echo Discord server or via the console support contact details.

These Terms are governed by the laws applicable to the maintainers' domicile. Any disputes will be handled in that jurisdiction's courts unless a different forum is required by law.
